Guo Lin, the associate professor will share us some useful tips.

The course of this semester taught by Guo Lin this semester is “International Economics”.Guo Lin,who has won the first prize in the teaching competition for young teachers of Wuhan University,has participated in the “Luojia Online”class and accumulated rich experience in online teaching.She also realized the need to provide students with high-quality online learning tutoring early.“I pay more attention to building an autonomous learning environment with students as the main body,such as online course flipping and task node system,instead of just watching the screen during the whole class” said Guo Lin.In order to help students bettergrasp the methods and core of online learning,and to reflect the educational philosophy of students' independent learning.Guo Lin made a video to share her suggestions on three questions:“Where to learn online courses”,“How to learn online courses”and“How to study online courses in a planned way”.

01Where to learn online courses?

Regarding the question of “where to learn online courses”,Guo Lin first divided online teaching into four dimensions:intensity, difficulty,popularity and temperature.These four dimensions correspond to the course chapters,learning materials,teaching activities and classroom interaction feelings of the students.She patiently introduced to the students how to use the platforms such as “Luojia Online”,“Learning APP”,“Ding Ding”and “Micro Teaching Assistant”,and explained the key points of the platform,such as sign-in,homework and online activities.It is especially emphasized that the usual grades are not the scores given by the teacher,but the affirmation earned by the students through their own efforts and active participation in the teaching interaction.

02How to learn online courses?

Regarding the question of “how to learn online courses”,Guo Lin has made localized innovations based on “Cornell note-taking method”, which has become the current “five-step learning method”: “learning”,“thinking”,“doing”,“teaching” and “testing”.These five steps correspond to five core points of learning in progressive order: “learning”-identifying new and old knowledge,“thinking”- learning to raise questions,“doing”-unity of knowledge and action,“teaching” -the highest standard of learning,and “testing”-making learning materials.Guo Lin pointed out that the “five-step learning method” aims to enhance students’ awareness of active learning and change students’ traditional learning methods,so that students can gradually realize that teachers’ teaching courseware is only teaching materials,and they cannot build knowledge system only through viewing PPT.Students should learn to study in groups,conduct online interaction and display the learned knowledge through discussion, sharing,questioning and other ways.

03How to plan online courses?

Regarding the question of “how to plan online courses”,in order to enable students to carry out online learning in a planned way,Guo Lin specially designed an “online course learning schedule” for the courses.The schedule is in chronological order.The teaching tasks, learning focus,teaching platform and materials acquisition are all arranged in detail.The progress is also distinguished by the color shade of the font,so that students can have a clear understanding of the learning progress,tasks and methods,which is convenient for them to arrange their study plan more reasonably.
